In this issue, we're pleased to spotlight our graduating seniors from the Notation in Science Communication. The NSC Celebration and Showcase is Friday, May 18 at 10:30am at Hume. Please come and congratulate these students in person!

Janine Birnbaum is graduating with a B.S.H. in Geophysics and a B.S. in Geological Sciences.  Next year, she'll be pursuing a PhD at Columbia University.  Her final comment on her Notation experience?  She writes, "I think the Notation offered a unique opportunity to focus on not just what, but how, we can communicate and the emphasis on reflection was different from the rest of my curriculum, but really forced me to consider my work as a whole in a way that was helpful for me."

Mireille Bejjani is graduating with a B.S. in Biology with Honors in Ecology and Evolution. Next year, she'll be working at Green Corps - a one-year program that is a "field school for environmental organizers." After some training, the majority of the year will be spent working on three environmental campaigns around the country with different NGOs. Her final comment on her Notation experience? She writes, "It was a fantastic opportunity to pull together the various pieces of my academic career into a cohesive and compelling narrative. I highly recommend it!"

Robert Collar is graduating with a B.S. in Geological Sciences. He will be taking a year off before applying to graduate school. For the first 3-4 months, he'll be doing geology exploration work on a gold deposit in Nevada.  His final comment on his Notation experience?  He writes, "This is a somewhat meta-comment, but I really appreciate the emphasis that the Notation places on reflection. I've certainly appreciated the time set aside by participating in the program for reflection on my work at Stanford."

Tai Dinger is graduating with a B.S. in Biology.  He will be finishing up his co-term in MS&E (health systems modeling track) next year.  His final comment on his Notation experience? He writes, "It's incredible that I am getting an academic certificate for things I read, listened to, and think about for pleasure! The people, the class time, I have so much gratitude for everyone who made those conversations possible."

Victoria Fan is graduating with a B.S. in Biology, a minor in Chemistry, and a minor in Classics.  She plans to begin an MD/PhD program next year.  Her final comment on her Notation experience?  She writes, "I loved the Notation program. It taught me to recognize and resolve shortcomings through critical self-reflection. All the notation instructors were fantastic."

Molly Fischer is graduating with a B.S. in Biology and will be co-terming next year in Community Health and Prevention Research (CHPR).
